I love Dexter, but I find this title sequence to be overly long. It needs to be edited back just a hair. It grows very repetitive after the first dozen viewings.

I love this show and I think the story is amazing and I was therfore surprised to see it renewed for a second series. I love the title sequence, it's a lovely montage of a man getting up in the morning and getting ready to go to work, he just happens to do it in slow motion... Oh, and theres the cut he gets while he is shaving, but who hasn't done that and the blood orange he juices and the tomato ketchup on his breakfast and the violent grinding of the coffee beans... Maybe it is all the subtle references to ligatures, to knife wounds / torture and the knowledge that the man going about this 'normal' routine (seriously who has the time to juice fresh oranges) is actually a serial killer. Or maybe his teeth are just too shiny... Hmmm...

I love Dexter, and I think it has one of the best opening title I have seen! It compliments the show and its story line fanstaticly, and I smile every time I see it. :)

This sequence is absolutely amazing, I totally disagree that it's too long/feel repetitive. It does a wonderful job of presenting a normal, boring morning routine and making it feel dangerous and just a little bit twisted.

I love this title sequence, though I have to agree that I too find it seems just a bit too long when watching episodes from DVD. Otherwise, fantastic!

The title sequence of Dexter is pretty much pitch-perfect. The show is, metaphorically at least, about the ways people justify ugly behavior. A title sequence that showcases the inherent brutality in the things a man does when he wakes up every morning is a perfect complement to that.

Actually my take of it is Dexter does this "acts" in the morning sequence which are quite similar to his killings....and then throws on a clean shirt...locks his door (real personality) and nods to a neighbor...Good morning!

Obviously, fittingly, the idea for this title sequence was inspired by the opening titles of Mary Harron's 2000 adaption of American Psycho.

Great sequence, great music. Interestingly, you can see a compositing error on the top left and bottom left 'D' of the DEXTER title. You can see a hard edge of a matte as it moves the 'blood' layer, and then suddenly it 'pops' into position.

USAlien question: How is this ham called Dexter throws into the pan? I never saw a piece so thick in a (german) supermarket.

No way!!! Totally disagree..pacing and edit are solid, all the shots are soo meaningful, so metaphoric and beautiful. Just my 2 cents...

There are some other goodies over there as well, ie: the dexter excepting the emmy, etc.
